My second son, Afif, is the most enthusiastic supporter in my family when I decided to start learning how to sew. And his wish is only one - "make a backpack for me".
I started my sewing experience from zero. I used to learn sewing when I was an eighth grader. Using the old black sewing machine without dinamo pedal was really killing me ;-) and it definitely burnt my interest in sewing.
Until one day I suddenly feel the urge to learn sewing and joined my first workshop. Getting caught in rain on my way to the workshop, I excused myself to change my clothes. By the way, the workshop was in Ummu Hanin's house so I changed my clothes in her daughter's room. Looking around the room, my eyes caught a nice spot - a beautiful handmade backpack with the daughter's name on it. From then on, I set a commitment to learn hard on sewing.

Starting from the easy one - making tote bag, I gradually made progress, quite good my mentor's said :-) And finally I learn how to make the backpack!!
Afif's request is my third trial in making backpack and I am quite pleased with the result since I applied many techniques from the previous workshops to make his dream backpack come true.
More happiness comes when I posted the pic and got backpack orders from my friends. What about Afif? He will always be my favorite marketing officer ;-) since he never stops telling how great it is to have a customized backpack.
And I am indeed a proud mom.
